Department of Music

The Music Department strives to present opportunities for students that meet the artistic, creative, and scholarly demands of those who intend to pursue teaching, performance or other careers in music.

Dr. John Paul

Welcome to the Benedictine College Music Department. We invite you check out our department and become involved in as many musical activities as you wish. Whether you are planning a career in music or simply enjoy performing solo or in ensembles, we have many opportunities for you. Our ensembles perform frequently in the area and internationally. We are proud that over two hundred of our B.C. students from all disciplines are involved in the ensembles.

We want you to consider ensemble participation during your time at Benedictine College. We offer participation awards for the large ensembles: Symphonic Band, Orchestra, Concert Chorale, Men’s Choir, and Women’s Ensemble. You do not have to be a music major to accept an award. You may also wish to study applied music during your time at Benedictine.

Our music faculty represents a professionally active team. They provide outstanding examples for our students through excellence in music performance and through high academic standards.

We are so proud to have become an “All-Steinway School.” Students appreciate the opportunity to study, practice and perform on these fine instruments thanks to a generous alumna.

Students interested in pursuing a major in music with be advised by full-time music faculty dedicated to serving our students with regard to future musical goals. We offer two music major degree programs: the Bachelor of Music Education and the Bachelor of Arts in Music. There is also an emphasis in Music Composition within the Bachelor of Arts in Music program.

Please visit us and see how you can participate in the music program. I am most happy to answer your questions!
