Want to join our team?

We are looking for people who have good communication skills and are patient and empathetic. We are especially interested in hiring a variety of majors, from Engineering to Theology, as our peer tutors work with clients on a wide range of assignments, from lab reports to business proposals.

One of the best ways to improve your own skills in reading, writing, critical thinking, and communication is to become a peer writing tutor! As a tutor, you will be trained on how to work most effectively with clients and encouraged to continually develop your own writing and interpersonal skills.

The application process begins in February for the coming academic year. To apply, please send the following to the writing center director: 1) a writing sample that speaks to your ability to creatively draft and thoroughly revise a work of composition, 2) a cover letter that discusses your writing process and explains why you’d make a strong peer tutor, and 3) a reference (contact information) for a professor who can speak to your interpersonal skills and potential to tutor peers. Competitive applicants will be interviewed by current peer tutors, and finalists will be interviewed by the writing center director before being accepted for the position. Please note: All new tutors must take a 1-credit tutoring course. For more information, please email us here.
