The Center for Beauty and Culture’s mission is to demonstrate that beauty, which is the revelation to the mind, through the senses, of the fullness of God’s presence, can save the world through artists who understand and apply objective standards of beauty at the service of truth and goodness.
Following the Transforming Culture in America Strategic Plan, the Center for Beauty and Culture provides for the following key areas of Formation, Extension and Profession.
Dr. Denis McNamara is Associate Professor and Executive Director of the Center for Beauty and Culture at Benedictine College. He holds a BA in the History of Art from Yale University and a PhD in Architectural History from the University of Virginia. From 2000 to 2019 he was a faculty member at the Liturgical Institute of the University of Saint Mary of the Lake. He served as Associate Professor of Sacramental Aesthetics, Academic Director, Liturgy Director, and Music Director.
