Mr. Strandquist received his B.S. in Physics & B.A. in Philosophy from Benedictine College in 2019, and his M.S. in Physics from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2021. He returned to his alma mater as faculty in 2022. He is currently doing research in the field of computational attosecond laser physics and working on his PhD while continuing to teach at Benedictine. He lives in Atchison with his wife, Dr. Katie Strandquist of the Engineering Dept.

Research:
Mr. Strandquist’s research interests are currently focused on computational attosecond laser physics, using a supercomputer to simulate the ionization of helium by very short and intense laser pulses. Students who join his research group will have the opportunity to perform cutting edge simulations, learn exciting applications of electricity and magnetism and quantum mechanics, and collaborate with researchers at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Interested students are encouraged to ask how they can get involved with this weird and wonderful field of physics. His group is open to students at any level, though it helps considerably to have had at least two semesters of calculus and calculus-based physics, as well as some programming experience.
