Athletics

 

John L. Schmiedeler Scholarship


Grantor: This scholarship was created through donors gifts given in memory of John L. Schmiedeler. Preference is given to men's basketball players, with financial need. This award may be renewed annually as long as he remains in good academic standing. The student must abide by all NAIA rules.


Ralph Nolan Scholarship


Grantors: Donors gifts given in memory of Ralph Nolan.  Preference is restricted to an outstanding varsity men's basketball player who maintains a 3.0 grade point average.


Kelley Wilson Soccer Scholarship


Grantors: Donors gifts given in memory of Kelley Wilson.  Preference is given to a Rockhurst High School male soccer player.  If none apply, then a student from any Catholic high school may receive the scholarship.


Tom Colwell Sr. Scholarship


Grantors: Donors gifts given in memory of Tom Colwell.  Preference is restricted to students who are members of the Benedictine College varsity men's basketball team.


Luisa Garcia Flood Scholarship


Grantor: James W. Flood in memory of Luisa Garcia Flood.  Preference is restricted to students who are members of the Benedictine College varsity soccer teams or are descendants of the Garcia Flood family.


E-I-E-I-O/John Casey Scholarship


Grantors: Donors gifts given in memory of John Casey.  Preference is given to students active in varsity sports at Benedictine College.  Financial need is not required.  This award may be renewable with a 2.0 grade point average.

Stephen and Amy Minnis Scholarship


Grantor: Stephen and Amy Minnis established this scholarship. Preference is given to students with high financial need or facing circumstances preventing them from attending College. The award may be retained as long as he or she remains in good academic standing.


O'Leary Family Scholarship


Grantor: John Patrick and Janice O'Leary created this scholarship. Preference will be given to students with high financial need. The award may be renewed as long as he or she remains in good academic standing.


Wahbeh Family Endowment Scholarship


Grantors: Elena Wahbeh-Foster, Zoya Wahbeh-Mead, and Val Wahbeh created this scholarship in memory of their parents Nickolai and Susan Wahbeh. Preference is given to any full-time freshman student with severe financial need.  In the event a freshman student is not identified, the award may be applied to a student at another level of studies. 


571st Dustoff Medics Scholarship


Grantor: An anoonymous donor established this scholarship in memory of David James Ewing and Kenneth Clifford Nokes who were killed in the Vietnam War.  Preference is restricted to full-time students with financial need and who are veterans. The scholarship excludes career vets and excludes Benedictine College varsity athletes. Recipients must maintain a 2.5 grade point average.


BC Endowed Scholarship (Consolidated)


Grantors: Donors gifts given to the Benedictine College endowment program.  Preference is for students with financial need.


Patrick and Estella (Umscheid) Farrell Scholarship


Grantor: This scholarship was established through a bequest from the estate of Patrick Farrell. Preference is given to students who have a financial need.


Farrell-Umscheid Family Scholarship


Grantor: The scholarship was established through a bequest from the estate of Patrick T. Farrell in memory of George and Alice Farrell, Sr. Romana Farrell, OSB, and Pete and Elizabeth Umscheid. Preference is given to students with financial need.


Joseph H. Gronstal Scholarship


Grantor: The scholarship was established through a bequest from the estate of Joseph H. Gronstal.  Preference is given to students with financial need.


William Randolph Hearst Scholarship


Grantor: The William Randolph Hearst Foundation.  Preference is given to any full-time students with financial need.

Grantor: The scholarship was established through a bequest from the estate of Owen E. Horner. Preference is given to any full-time students with financial need.

Grantor: The scholarship was established through gifts and from a bequest of Mary E. "Betty" Moore.  Preference is given to any full-time Benedictine College students with financial need.


Laurence R. O'Donnell Memorial Scholarship


Grantors: The scholarship was established through a bequest from the estate of Laurence R. O'Donnell, and by gifts from Kathryn Tonquest O'Donnell.  Preference is given to any full-time students with fiinancial need.  Award may be renewed if student maintains a 3.0 grade point average.


Tensie Oldfather Scholarship


Grantor: The scholarship was established through gifts by Hortense "Tensie" Oldfather.  Preference is given to students who demonstrate financial need.


Sisters of Mount St. Scholastica Scholarship


Grantor: Donors gifts given in memory of Mother Celeste Hemmen, OSB; Sister Elizabeth Overton, OSB; and Donald E. Prouty.  Preference is given to any full-time students with financial need.

Bucky Thompson Memorial Scholarship 


Grantors: The scholarship was established through gifts from family and friends in memory of 1st Lt. Richard W. "Bucky" Thompson who was killed in the Vietnam War. Preference is restricted to male high school seniors or graduates from Atchison County, Kansas, and who plans to obtain a degree from Benedictine College.


J. Ernest Dunn Memorial Scholarship


Grantor: Rose M. Dunn created this scholarship in memory of her husband, J. Ernest Dunn.  Preference is for any male student who demonstrates academic achievement (3.0 grade point average) and demonstrates financial need.

Grantor: Larry and Tresa Buessing created this scholarship. Preference is given to full time students, with financial need. The recipient must be the oldest child of their family. The student may renew this award annually as long as he or she remains a cumulative B average.

Grantor: The scholarship was established through a gift from the estate of Genevieve Dierenfeldt. No restrictions.


Father Sylvester Schmitz Scholarship


Grantor: Donors gifts given in memory of Father Sylvester Schmitz. Preference is given to those administered by the Scholarship Committee.

Grantors: Donors gifts from family and friends in memory of Dennis J. McCarthy. Preference is given to students pursuing a bachelor's of arts degree, who have financial need and must maintain a 3.0 grade point average.

Jack Shay Scholarship


Grantor: The scholarship was established through a gift from Jack Shay and also from a bequest in his estate in memory of the men killed in the Eighth Air Force during World War II.  Preference is given to any full-time students.

Dan Rupp Memorial Scholarship


Grantor: The scholarship was established through gifts from the family in memory of Dan Rupp. Preference is given to high school graduates from Thomas More-Prep in Hays, Kansas (interested in business, economics and/or varsity basketball); high school graduates from the Diocese of Salina; or residents from western Kansas (west of I-35).  Students must have a 3.0 grade point average and demonstrated financial need.


Pretz Family Scholarship Fund


Grantor: James Pretz, MD created this scholarship. Preference is given to graduates of Bishop Ward High School in Wyandotte County, Kansas. Second preference is given to students with demonstrated financial need. The award may be retained if the student maintains good conduct and meets all academic and requirements as determined the by Dean on the College.


Mary E. Graboski Scholarship 


Grantor: The scholarship was established by Byron Scott in memory of his mother, Mary E. Graboski. The students must be female and from Colorado. They also must be non-Catholic and the first generation in their family to attend college. The scholarship may be renewed if the student maintains a 3.0 grade point average.


Broderick-Devling Scholarship


Grantors: Robert and Frances (Devling) Broderick created this scholarship. Preference is for students from farming or rural background, should be need-based, with no academic restrictions.


Bo and Terry Fraser Scholarship


Grantors: Bo and Terry Fraser created this scholarship. Preference is given to rural students, with proven academic success, who have a financial need.


Alvin J. and Leona M. Lueger Scholarship


Grantors: Robert and Susan Lueger, and Donald and Diane Lueger created this scholarship in memory of their parents, Alvin J. and Leona M. Lueger. Preference is for students from Nemaha County, Kansas, based on academic merit and financial need.


James W. and Dorothy McBride Scholarship


Grantors: The scholarship was established by gifts given by James and Dorothy McBride, and through a bequest from the estate of James McBride.  Preference is for students from these Nebraska high schools: St. Mary's in Aurora; St. Joseph's in Giltner; or Sacred Heart in Roseland; who have scholastic achievement and financial need.  If none apply, then the award may then be given to any Nebraska student.


Mid-Mo Ravens Scholarship


Grantor: Members of the Mid-Mo Ravens created this scholarship. Preference is given to students with financial need from Central Missouri, and who have a strong Catholic background.


Father LaVern Wingert Scholarship


Grantor: The scholarship was established through a bequest from the estate of Fr. LaVern Wingert.  Preference is for high school graduates from the Diocese of Des Moines, Iowa, who require financial assistance.  Counties include: Adair, Adams, Audubon, Cass, Fremont, Harrison, Mills, Montgomery, Page, Pottawattamie, Ringgold, Shelby, Taylor and Union.


Mother Lucy Dooley, OSB-Mother Aloysia Northman Scholarship


Grantors: The scholarship was established through gifts given by the Mount St. Scholastica Alumnae Association in honor of Mother Lucy Dooley, OSB and her predecessor, Mother Aloysia Northman, OSB.  Preference for the Mother Lucy Scholarship is restricted to female graduates of Atchison high schools. Preference for the Mother Aloysia Scholarship is awarded to current resident sophomores on the basis of financial need, scholastic achievement and community service. The awards are given in alternate years.


John and Grace Adair-Exchange National Bank Foundation


Grantors: The scholarship was established through gifts from John and Grace Adair, and Exchange National Bank.  Preference is for graduates of northeast Kansas high schools (Nemaha, Brown, Doniphan, Atchison or Jefferson counties.)  Students will need to maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average, and are selected for both their academic superiority and leadership.


Joan Bergman Buser Scholarship


Grantor: August Bergman created this scholarship in honor of his sister Joan Bergman Buser. Preference is given to graduates from Sts. Peter and Paul School in Seneca, Kansas. Alternate recipients may be selected based on the following order: a former student of Nemaha Central High School in Seneca, Kansas, a student from Nemaha County Kansas, from north-central Kansas, or a student from the state of Kansas. The award may be renewed as long as he or she remains in good academic standing.


Lee Schneider Memorial Scholarship


Grantor: The scholarship was established through a gift from Nancy L. Schneider in memory of her husband, Lee Schneider.  Preference is given to students from St. Charles, Missouri or the Greater St. Louis area. The recipient may retain the award throughout undergraduate study as long as he or she remains in good academic standing.


Mike and Marlene Stovall Scholarship


Grantor: The scholarship was established through a bequest from the estate of Arthur M. Stovall. Preference is given to a student who is a graduate of an Independence High School in Montgomery County Kansas, or a high school in Marion County Kansas. The recipient will retain the award as long as he or she remains in good academic standing.


Dana Allan Villeme Memorial Scholarship


Grantors: The scholarship was established through gifts by Col. Donald & Charlotte Villeme in memory of their son, Dana Allan Villeme. Preference is for graduates from Topeka West High School, who have a 2.5 grade point GPA, and have financial need. Second preference is any full-time Benedictine College student that has a 2.5 GPA and financial need.  


Marshall V. and Beulah M. Hall Scholarship


Grantors: The scholarship was established through a bequest from the estate of Marshall V. Hall.  Preference is restricted to students enrolled full-time at Benedictine College who are residents of the following areas: Platte county, Missouri; Brown, Nemaha, or Doniphan counties in Kansas; or are descendants of the Hall family. Area limitations do not apply to descendants.


Henry and Mary Hunninghake Memorial Scholarship


Grantor: The family of Henry and Mary Hunninghake created this scholarship in their memory. Preference is given to students from Nemaha County studying mathematics or science who maintain a GPA of 3.4 and have financial need.


Gilligan Family Scholarship


Grantor: The scholarship was established through gifts given by Peter Gilligan.  Preference is given to graduates of Mount Carmel High School in Chicago, who are African-American and seek an undergraduate degree.


Anna S. Berezina Derrick Scholarship


Grantor: Anya Berezina Derrick created this scholarship. Preference is given to an international student with emphasis from Russia or the West Banks of Jordan in the Middle East. Second preference is given to students intending to study abroad in Florence, Italy.


Josephine and Katherine Kiefer Memorial Scholarship


Grantors: The scholarship was established through bequests from the estates of Josephine Kiefer and Katherine Kiefer. Preference is for students from St. Joseph, Missouri or Wathena, Kansas area.


Frances McIntyre Memorial Scholarship


Grantor: The scholarship was established through a bequest from the estate of Amrette McIntyre in memory of Frances McIntyre.  Preference is for students from Doniphan County, Kansas. If none apply, then any locale is applicable.


James P. Moroney Scholarship


Grantor: The scholarship was established through gifts from James P. Moroney in memory of his wife, Beatrice Heibel Moroney, 1910 alumna of MSSC; and his brothers, Vincent, 1923, and Bernard, 1928, alumni of SBC.  Preference is for students from Oklahoma and Colorado.


Herman J. Rome Scholarship


Grantor: The scholarship was established through gifts by Herman J. Rome.  Preference is for students from these Kansas high schools: Thomas More Prep-Marian, Hays; Hoisington; Salina; or any student from the Dodge City Diocese.


Joseph M. and Agnes C. Schaefer Scholarship


Grantors: The scholarship was established through a bequest from the estate of Agnes C. Schaefer in memory of her parents, Joseph M. and Agnes Magrane Schaefer,  Preference is given to students with academic ability from a high school located in Ellis County, Kansas (Hays, Ellis, Victoria, or Schoenchen) or to other applicants from western Kansas.

Grantors: The scholarship was established through a bequest from the estate of Victor A. Schaefer.  Preference is given to students with academic ability and from Ellis County, Kansas, (Hays, Ellis, Victoria, Schoenchen) or to other applicants from western Kansas.


Glenn and Patricia Torline Endowed Scholarship


Grantors: Glenn and Patricia Torline created this scholarship. Preference is given to graduates from Spearville High School in Kansas. If no applicants apply, then this award may be given to any Kansas high school graduate enrolled full-time. 


Lionel G. and Eileen E. Trujillo Scholarship


Grantors: The scholarship was established through gifts from Lionel G. and Eileen E. Trujillo.  Preference is for students from Colorado or New Mexico.

Grantors: Art and Terri Catrambone created this scholarship.  Preference is for full-time undergraduate students in good standing academically, average or above average grades, financial need, a serious desire to complete education and earn a degree, and must have a reputation and character. 


Father Eugene Dehner, OSB Scholarship


Grantors: Donors gifts received in honor of Fr. Eugene Dehner, OSB.  Preference is given to full-time students with scholastic achievement and financial need.


Klopf Family Memorial Scholarship


Grantor: The scholarship was established through gifts from Ethel B. Klopf in memory of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony A. Klopf.  Preference is given to students who demonstrate scholastic achievement & financial need.


G. Lawrence "Larry" Lane Memorial Scholarship


Grantor: The scholarship was established through a bequest from the estate of G. Lawrence Lane.  Preference is given to a new recipient each year. The student must be enrolled as a full time undergraduate; demonstrate leadership and community/extracurricular involvement of at least 15 hours a month; strong academic achievement, and have financial need. 


William F. Lindquist Scholarship


Grantors: The scholarship was established through gifts given by family and friends in memory of William F. Lindquist.  Preference is given to full-time students who are academically gifted and have a financial need.


Abbot Cuthbert McDonald, OSB Scholarship


Grantors: The scholarship was established by a gift from Leo J. Hulseman and donors gifts given in honor of Abbot Cuthbert McDonald, OSB. Preference is given to students with scholastic achievement and financial need.


Charles Schaff Scholarship


Grantor: The scholarship was established through a bequest from the estate of Charles F. Schaff.  Preference is given to any full-time students that demonstrate merit and need.


Rita and Jerry Schmidt Scholarship


Grantor: The scholarship was established through gifts from Jerry Schmidt in memory of his wife, Rita Schmidt.  Preference is given to students who demonstrate academic effort & financial need.


Floyd Slief and Julian Morales Scholarship


Grantor: The scholarship was established through gifts from Juan G. Morales and Marilyn A. Slief Morales in honor of their fathers.  Preference is given to full-time students who maintain a good grade point average and have financial need.

Dan and Terri Carey Family Scholarship


Grantors: Donors gifts given in honor of Dan and Terri Carey.  Preference is given to full-time Benedictine College students with academic and leadership potential.


Forster-Powers Trust Scholarship


Grantor: The scholarship was established through gifts given by the Forster/Powers Charitable Trust.  Preference is given to full-time students who demonstrate academic merit.


Father John P. O'Connor Memorial Scholarship 


Grantor: The scholarship was established through gifts given by family and friends in memory of Fr. John P. O'Connor.  Preference is given to full-time students with scholastic achievement. Students must maintain a 3.0 grade point average.


Frank Scheetz Scholarship


Grantor: The scholarship was established through gifts given by Frank Scheetz. Preference is given to students who have demonstrated academic and general leadership in Kansas high schools.


 

Leadership

 

George P. Reintjes Scholarship


Grantors: The scholarship was established through gifts from the George P. Reintjes family.  Preference is restricted to full-time students who are in a leadership role, such as President of Student Government, Chairpersons of Social Committees, Editor of the student newspaper, or Editor of the yearbook.


Raleigh and Lucille Hays Scholarship


Grantor: The scholarship was established through a bequest from the estate of Lucille Hays.  Preference is given to full-time students who demonstrate academic and leadership potential.


Edith and Harry Darby Scholarship


Grantors: The scholarship was established through gifts from the Honorable Harry and Edith Darby.  Preference is restricted to full-time students who have already earned 58 credit hours.  They must be seeking a four-year degree, have a 3.5 cumulative grade point average, and demonstrate academic ability and leadership.  Students must submit a letter of application and a minimum of two letters from Benedictine College faculty or staff supporting the applicants' contributions.

Ray and Mary Jo Becker Scholarship Fund


Grantor: Raymond C. and Mary Jo Becker established this scholarship. Preference will be given to descendants of Esther B. Becker. Secondary consideration will be given to all other students with financial need.


Carrigan-Fitzgerald Scholarship


Grantors: Donors gifts given in memory of Sr. Celine Carrigan, OSB, and Br. Vincent Fitzgerald, OSB.  Preference is given to descendants of the Benedictine College Class of 1997 or be full-time students with a 2.5 grade point average and have a financial need.


Donald and Roselyn Schmidt Scholarship


Grantor: Donald and Roselyn Schmidt created this scholarship. Priority is given to students with a relative from the class of 1957. Preference is given to graduates of Thomas More Prep-Marian High in Hays, Kansas, and other students from Ellis County, Kansas. Student athletes will also be given special preference.


Boeding Rice Family Scholarship


Grantor: James and Alice Boeding Rice established this scholarship. Preference is given to descendants and relatives of James and Alice Boeding Rice. Secondary preference is to residents of Nemaha County, Kansas. Final consideration goes to students graduating from Catholic High Schools. The award may be renewed as long as he or she remains in good academic standing.


Keithline Family Scholarship


Grantor: Herschel B. and Carol J. Keithline created this scholarship. Preference is given to descendants. If none apply, then the scholarship may be awarded to students from the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas that require financial aid. The award may be renewed as long as he or she remains in good academic standing.


Stanley and June Thibault Family Scholarship


Grantor: Stanley and June Thibault created this scholarship. Preference is given to descendants of Stanley M. and June M. Thibault; second preference to students from St. Aloysius Gonzaga Parish (Osborne), St. Mary Parish (Downs), and St. Boniface Parish (Tipton), Kansas; third preferences for students majoring in engineering or nursing; and financial need. The award may be renewed as long as the recipient remains in good academic standing


Corbett Scholarship


Grantor: The scholarship was established through gifts given by Vincent Corbett.  Preference is given to legacy students of Vincent and Elizabeth Corbett; descendants of Navy officers who served from 1930-1942 during WWII; students from the Greater Wichita area; or students from southern Kansas showing a financial need.


John W. Kirwan Scholarship


Grantor: The scholarship was established through a bequest from the estate of Louise E. Kirwan in memory of her father, John W. Kirwan. Preference is restricted to students who have the last name of Kirwan, are residents of northeast Kansas counties.


Charles and Ernestine Linck Scholarship


Grantor: The scholarship was established through gifts given by Charles Linck. Preference is restricted to students enrolled full-time at Benedictine College and have the last name of Linck; be a descendant of Louis Linck or Andrew Miller, both of Wathena, Kansas; or a resident of Doniphan County, Kansas.


Thull Family Scholarship


Grantor: Frances K. Thull in memory of Tracy J. Thull and in honor of Michael R. Thull.  Preference is for full-time students who are a lineal descendant of Frances or Eugene Thull or a resident of Mitchell County, Kansas or a resident of any Kansas county which lies west of Hwy 81/I-35 and north of I-70. 


Landon Family Scholarship


Grantors: The scholarship was established through gifts from the Landon family. Preference is given to descendant of the Landon family. Second preference is given to a student in good academic standing, who has proven financial need, and who has submitted a personal essay on their faith and values on life, which will be shared with the Landon family.


Moyer-Lazzo Scholarship


Grantors:  The scholarship was established through gifts given by Mark J. and Mary Ann Moyer Lazzo in memory and honor of their parents, Max and Virginia Moyer and Gene and Janelle Lazzo.  Preference is given to Legacy students. A Legacy student is defined as one who has a sibling, parent, grandparent or other relative attend or graduate from St. Benedict's College, Mount St. Scholastica College, or Benedictine College.)  The recipient must maintain a 2.5 grade point average or better in order to continue scholarship benefits.


Schandler Steichen Scholarship


Grantor: Beatrice Schandler Hickert established this scholarship. Preference will be given to descendants of Bernard B. and Beatrice Hickert. Second preference is given to students of Native American descent. If none apply, the award may be given to a student with financial need. Recipients are eligible based upon academic merit and financial need.

Judge Jay A. and Sadie W. Kyle Business Scholarship


Grantor: The scholarship was established through a bequest from the estate of Sadie W. Kyle.  Preference is restricted to full-time students majoring in Business.


Harold and Eunice Cole Schorn Scholarship


Grantors: Patrick and Sylvia Schorn McGee, and Harold Schorn Jr., in memory of their parents.  Preference is given to students who are majoring in Education, or are descendants of Harold and Eunice Schorn. 


Bartels-Exline Scholarship Endowment Fund


Grantors: Donors gifts given in memory of Virgil Bartels and Charles J. Exline.   Preference is given to a student enrolled in the teacher education program.  Input regarding recipient chosen is provided by the Co-Chairs of the Education Department.


Sr. Mary Faith and Sr. Scholastica Schuster Scholarship


Grantors: Donors gifts received in honor of Sister Mary Faith Schuster, OSB and Sister Scholastica Schuster, OSB. Preference is for an English Major. Input of student selected is to be given by the Chair of the Benedictine College English Department.


Peter Cathers Scholarship


Grantors: The scholarship was established through donors gifts given in memory of Peter Cathers. Preference is for science and math majors from rural or low income backgrounds.


Edward and Marlene Gellings Scholarship


Grantor: Edward and Marlene Gellings created the scholarship. Preference is given to a declared Education major with a focus, and professional intention, toward Special Needs Education. The recipient must maintain a 2.5 GPA to retain the award.


Kathryn Weishar Dalzell Music Scholarship


Grantor: Richard and Kathryn Dalzell established this scholarship. Preference is given to a student studying piano and/or majoring in music, music education, or music marketing. The award will be retained as long as he or she remains in good academic standing


Keutzer-Jedermann Scholarship


Grantor: Kim Keutzer created this scholarship. Preference is given to music majors who are members of at least one vocal ensemble and one instrumental ensemble. The award may be renewed annually as long as he or she remains in good academic standing.


Dorothy (Joyce) Miller Nursing Scholarship


Grantor: The Richard W. Miller family created this scholarship in memory of Dorothy (Joyce) Miller. Preference is given to a student with a declared major in nursing or pre-med studies. Second preference is for a student who has a parent in the nursing field. The recipient must maintain a GPA of 2.8 or higher to retain the award.


Richie Restivo Music Scholarship


Grantor: The scholarship was established through donors gifts in memory of Richie Restivo. Preference is given to a student majoring or minoring in music, music education, or music marketing. The award may be retained as long as he or she remains in good academic standing.


Kathryn Tonquest Senger Scholarship


Grantor: Bernard G. and Ellen M. Tonquest established this scholarship in memory of his mother, Kathryn Tonquest Senger. Preference is given to students who have declared majors in either Fine Art or Political Science. The recipient must maintain a 3.0 GPA or better to retain the award


Helen K. Volk Scholarship


Grantor: The scholarship was established through a bequest from the estate of Helen K. Volk.  Preference is given to students studying Theatre Arts and must be recommended by the Chair of the Theatre Arts Department. The recipient may retain the award as long as he or she remains in good academic standing. Financial need is not a requirement.


Robert Reintjes Scholarship


Grantor: Anonymous.  Preference is restricted to full-time students majoring in Humanities.


James L. Miller Sr. Scholarship


Grantor: William L. Miller, Sr., in memory of his father, James L. Miller, Sr.  Preference is given to a student majoring in mass communication/journalism, or a student serving on a Benedictine College student publication: The Circuit, Raven Yearbook, E-Circuit, BC News Network radio podcast, etc.  May retain award with good academic standing.


Franz A. and Angelica Morales von Sauer Memorial Scholarship


Grantor: The scholarship was established through a bequest from the estate of Angelica Morales von Sauer.  Preference is given to students majoring in Music.


H. Guy and Alma Stinson Music Scholarship


Grantors: The scholarship was established through gifts given by Bob and Mary Stinson Martin in memory of her parents, H. Guy and Alma Stinson.  Preference is given to students majoring in Music.


Vern J. Ostdiek Memorial Scholarship


Grantor: The scholarship was established through a bequest from the estate of Vern Ostdiek, P.D. Preference is that no more than two students majoring in Physics, Astronomy, Engineering, Math or Computer Science be receiving this award at same time.  Application process is required (Faculty: Science/Math Committee). Renewable if student maintains a 3.0 grade point average.


Howard, Sr. and Jane Westerman Memorial Scholarship


Grantors: The scholarship was established through gifts received from family in memory of Howard J. Westerman.  Preference is given to students majoring in Theology or Religious Studies. 


Helen Jane and John Gaschen Music Scholarship


Grantor: The scholarship was established through gifts given by John E. Gaschen in memory of his wife, Helen Jane Wagner Gaschen.  Preference is given to a student seeking a degree in Vocal Performance.


Frankenhoff, Wolters, and Mother Lucy  Dooley Memorial Scholarship


Grantors: The scholarship was established through gifts and from bequests of by Charles and Nona Frankenhoff. Preference is given to students majoring in Humanities.


Edwin and Helen McAnany Scholarship


Grantors: Edwin J. and Helen McAnany. Preference is given for students preparing for a career in law or the sciences: Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Physics, Astronomy, Computer Science, Mathematics, Nursing, Psychology, and Engineering: Chemical, Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical.


Michael J. Murray Chemistry Scholarship


Grantors: Donors gifts received in honor of Michael J. Murray.  Preference is restricted to full-time students majoring in Chemistry.


Father Joseph Staudinger, OSB Memorial Scholarship


Grantors: Donors gifts from family and friends established the scholarship in memory of Rev. Joseph Staudinger.  Preference is given to students majoring in Music. One scholarship is for the field of music and one scholarship is for a student majoring in the Humanities.


Sister Helen Sullivan, OSB Scholarship


Grantors: Donors gifts given by alumnae of the Kansas Gamma Chapter of Kappa Mu Epsilon in honor of Sister Helen Sullivan, OSB.  Preference is given to an upperclassmen member of the society recommended by the mathematics faculty.

Gilbert R. Estrada Scholarship


Grantor: The scholarship was established through donors gifts from friends in memory of Gilbert R. Estrada. Preference is given to a minority student (Native American, Hispanic or African American) who maintains a 2.5 GPA and shows financial need. 


Ann and Jack O'Sullivan Scholarship


Grantor: An anonymous donor created this scholarship in memory of Ann and Jack O'Sullivan. Preference is restricted to African-American students with academic ability, character, and intent to graduate. Award may be retained if recipient maintains qualifications. Second preference is restricted to a Hispanic student who meets the same qualifications.

Anthony Zaleski Priesthood Scholarship


Grantor: The scholarship was established through a bequest from the estate of Anthony Zaleski.  Preference is for students with financial need, and studying for the priesthood.


John Williford-Reiss Memorial Scholarship


Grantor: John K. Reiss established this scholarship. Preference is given to students intending to pursue a church vocation. The award may also be given to a student working for teacher education certification and intending to teach in a Catholic grade or high school.


John J. McGrath Priesthood Scholarship


Grantor: The scholarship was established through a bequest from the estate of John J. McGrath.  Preference is given to male students studying for the priesthood.


George L. Ross Priesthood Scholarship


Grantor: The scholarship was established through a bequest from the estate of George L. Ross.  Preference is given to students studying for the priesthood.


Thomas E. Alsop Scholarship


Grantor: This scholarship was established through a bequest from the estate of Thomas E. Alsop.  Preference is given to students studying for the priesthood or religious life.  If none available, any student with financial need is eligible.


Priesthood/Formation Scholarship 


Grantors: The scholarship was established through gifts received in honor of Benedictine College.  Preference is given to students studying for the Priesthood or Religious Life.
