Freshman Year: EXPLORE
- Get to know your academic advisor and Director of Career Services
- Meet all of your professors and establish a relationship
- Explore academic majors and minors (Benedictine Course Catalog)
- Complete the Strong Interest Inventory test to help with major and career choices
- Learn about the resources available on campus
- Get started on a positive note: attend all classes, complete all assignments and maintain a good GPA
- Join organizations on campus – good rule of thumb is to join one related to an academic or career interest and one social club
- Register for the Raven Walk at ravenwalk.benedictine.edu
- Create a LinkedIn profile
- Network and conduct an informational interview with at least one professional in industry of interest per semester
- Create an account on benedictine.givepulse.com in order to search for and start tracking your service hours
- Use breaks to job shadow in an area of interest
- Draft a college resume
Sophomore Year: ENGAGE
- Continue to maintain a good GPA
- Attend career-related workshops
- Become more active in student organizations
- Do service off campus
- Explore study abroad options
- Develop work experience
- Research internship possibilities
- Approach professors about possible research opportunities
- Network and conduct an informational interview with at least one professional in industry of interest per semester
Junior Year: ENACT
- Take mock GRE, GMAT, MCAT and LSAT exams
- Prepare grad school applications and apply for scholarships
- Fine tune resume and interviewing skills
- Participate in experiential learning through internships and volunteer opportunities
- Participate in on-campus recruiting events
- Update your LinkedIn profile
- Network and conduct an informational interview with at least one professional in industry of interest per semester
Senior Year: EMBARK
- Attend presentations on job searches, interviewing, writing and applying to grad school
- Establish life goals, budget and career plans
- Cultivate your network
- Review all graduation requirements with academic advisor and registrar
- Select faculty, staff, and former employees for references
- Apply to post-graduate opportunities
- Notify Career Services about future plans
