Freshman Year: EXPLORE

  • Get to know your academic advisor and Director of Career Services
  • Meet all of your professors and establish a relationship
  • Explore academic majors and minors (Benedictine Course Catalog)
  • Complete the Strong Interest Inventory test to help with major and career choices
  • Learn about the resources available on campus
  • Get started on a positive note: attend all classes, complete all assignments and maintain a good GPA
  • Join organizations on campus – good rule of thumb is to join one related to an academic or career interest and one social club
  • Register for the Raven Walk at ravenwalk.benedictine.edu
  • Create a LinkedIn profile
  • Network and conduct an informational interview with at least one professional in industry of interest per semester
  • Create an account on benedictine.givepulse.com in order to search for and start tracking your service hours
  • Use breaks to job shadow in an area of interest
  • Draft a college resume

Sophomore Year: ENGAGE

  • Continue to maintain a good GPA
  • Attend career-related workshops
  • Become more active in student organizations
  • Do service off campus
  • Explore study abroad options
  • Develop work experience
  • Research internship possibilities
  • Approach professors about possible research opportunities
  • Network and conduct an informational interview with at least one professional in industry of interest per semester

Junior Year: ENACT

  • Take mock GRE, GMAT, MCAT and LSAT exams
  • Prepare grad school applications and apply for scholarships
  • Fine tune resume and interviewing skills
  • Participate in experiential learning through internships and volunteer opportunities
  • Participate in on-campus recruiting events
  • Update your LinkedIn profile
  • Network and conduct an informational interview with at least one professional in industry of interest per semester

Senior Year: EMBARK

  • Attend presentations on job searches, interviewing, writing and applying to grad school
  • Establish life goals, budget and career plans
  • Cultivate your network
  • Review all graduation requirements with academic advisor and registrar

  • Apply to post-graduate opportunities
