Architecture Summer Study Abroad Program

Embark on an unforgettable journey through the heart of Ancient Greek civilization with Benedictine College’s Architecture Department. Our 2027 Study Abroad Program in Greece offers an unparalleled opportunity to study classical architecture in one of the world’s most historically significant and visually stunning countries. From January 2 to January 11, 2027, immerse yourself in the rich traditions of architecture, art, and history under the guidance of accomplished faculty and tour guides.

Program Highlights

• Intimate Learning Environment: Limited to a maximum of 16 students, ensuring personalized instruction and close-knit camaraderie among participants.
• Expert Faculty: Led by the Department Chair John Haigh and a dedicated Alithea tour leader for the duration of the program (Alithea runs tours in Greece for renowned Ralston College). Supported by a chaperone, the program provides expert guidance and care throughout your journey.
• Immersive Itinerary: The proposed route brings students through Crete and mainland Greece, including Heraklion and Knossos, Chania, an overnight ferry crossing, Delphi and Holy Luke Monastery, Nafpaktos, Olympia and Bassae, Nafplio, Mycenae and Epidaurus, and the major archaeological and classical sites of Athens.
• Community and Fellowship: Live, study, and explore alongside peers who share your passion for classical architecture, fostering friendships and professional connections that will last a lifetime.

• Expert-led lectures and guided tours
• 10 entrances to museums and archeological sites
• All group transportation during the trip (including ferries)
• Six group meals (Breakfast is included in the hotels) 
• One credit hour of Benedictine College tuition (charged under separate course registration)

What’s not Included

• International flights and airport transfers
• The remaining meals (only six are included)
• Travel/medical insurance, personal expenses

Costs:

• Program Fee: $2,600
  • Paid in full with your application (no deposits). See Fine Print section below for cancellation information.
• Tuition: $425 (1 credit hour)

Please read on for further details about registrations and terms of cancellations.

• Contingency: The cost is contingent on meeting 10 participants. If fewer students enroll, we will ask applicants if they would agree to accepting an increase in fee in order to sustain the program.
• Minimum Enrollment: A minimum enrollment of 10 students is needed by November 13, 2027. If we do not reach this number by that date then the program may be altered in terms of faculty and destinations.
• Deposits: No deposits. Pay in Full. Payments will be returned if you are prevented from making this travel due to hardship and extenuating circumstances outside your control.
• The 2025 and 2026 Februum Showcases raised awareness for our travel abroad programs. Donations at the events earmarked for travel go toward defraying the cost of this program. In the event that the Architecture Department receives a substantial donation, students may receive a reduced rate of payment.
