Mission Statement

As heir to the 1500 year Benedictine tradition, the Department of Psychological Sciences at Benedictine College inherits the values of liberal arts education, peace, community, and the balance of work with contemplation.

The Department of Psychological Sciences offers students opportunities for enriching their scientific understanding of human beings by collaborating with faculty in research projects, as well as applying their understanding through serving the needs of the local community. Psychology professors promote community by making students equal partners in both empirical and applied endeavors. By engaging students in these dual educational tasks of discovery and application, psychology professors believe that students become prepared to meet interpersonal challenges and promote the common welfare in an increasingly multicultural society.
