Brass, Wind, and Percussion Studio – Department of Music

Students who participate in Brass, Wind, and Percussion applied lessons are drawn from a variety of majors. Dr. Tom Davoren, Director of Bands and Instrumental Music,is an internationally respected band conductor and pedagogue and the flute, clarinet, saxophone, double reed, high brass, low brass, and percussion studios, are led by adjunct applied professors who are nationally recognized. 

Students can showcase their work through a variety of solo and ensemble performances. The opportunity to perform in Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Brass Band, Jazz Band, and Percussion Ensemble is an extension of private applied lessons. Participation in at least one ensemble expected of all Brass, Wind, and Percussion students.

Brass, Wind, and Percussion students receive a weekly private lesson, 1 hour for major students and 30 minutes for non-major students. Weekly performance recitals provide opportunity to perform for the college community. Music Department Scholarships are available by audition. These awards are based on potential for success in Benedictine’s music performance offerings. They require enrollment each semester in our bands and private lessons on your instrument. Scholarships are available regardless of major area of study.
