I am so thankful to everyone that made my scholarships possible and helped me become a Raven.
Students are part of the Raven community from the first day they step on campus! During the first week, they engage with new classmates in the traditional ROC (Raven Orientation Camp) week! It is a time of meeting new friends, talking with advisors, and learning the Benedictine traditions. Take a look back at our Raven Orientation Camp (ROC) highlights from the beginning of the 2016 school year. You make Raven traditions possible. #whyIGIVEbenedictine
Building community in academics. With a 15:1 student to faculty ratio, there are personal connections between students and teachers inside and outside of every classroom. You make this connection possible. #whyIGIVEbenedictine
Our long-standing traditions bring our Raven family together no matter what Benedictine class they are from. The beanie is the iconic tradition that requires the freshman class to wear a beanie for the first week of school. Benedictine College is one of the few colleges in America still observing this tradition. You make Raven traditions possible. #whyIGIVEbenedictine
282 Ravens headed out to 13 countries on 5 continents for Spring Break mission trips this year. One of these trips was a visit by an Engineering class to Orurillo, Peru to find solutions for the repair and upgrade of greenhouses. These greenhouses will be used by the local parish to feed the youth in the village. You make mission trips possible. #whyIGIVEbenedictine
“My Benedictine faith life has helped me stay grounded. It also makes me want to give back to those less fortunate.” — John Harris Jr., Business major from Lincoln, Nebraska. He plays for the Men’s Basketball team, is the President of the Benedictine College Black Student Union, and serves on the FCA. You make these opportunities for students possible. #whyIGIVEbenedictine
“Our Lady’s intercessions date as far back as 1856 to most recently when we implored her help in increasing our enrollment and growth,” President Minnis said when we consecrated Benedictine College to the Blessed Virgin Mary in 2013. Faith is a foundation on our campus; every day, students pray the Memorare Prayer for the college! You make our campus faith life possible. #whyIGIVEbenedictine
Laura Tibbs and Bienvenido Cortes were both awarded fellowships within the same discipline from the National Science Foundation (NSF) after competing against more than 13,000 others in a demanding process. You make it possible for students to have state-of-the-art Academic programs which spur them on to do great things. #whyIGIVEbenedictine
“When you give you give me a chance to receive an incredible education. My scholarships made Benedictine more affordable than most colleges. I hope I can repay my scholarship someday!” — Anna Hagenkord is a senior Nursing major. She plays for the Women’s Soccer team, is the president of Benedictine College Student Nurses Association, was a Belize mission trip leader, and has participated in two Discovery Day projects. You make these opportunities for students possible. #whyIGIVEbenedictine
With the addition of Architecture, we have increased our majors to 50 this academic year. This makes Benedictine College the only NAIA School with both Engineering and Architecture. We’ve also established a state-of-the-art classroom, the Thompson Trading Room, for the new investment course in the School of Business, giving students experience managing a portion of the college’s endowment. Our expansion of our majors gives more opportunities to students to pursue greatness, and this is only made possible through scholarships. You make our progress in Academic programs possible. #whyIGIVEbenedictine
