Benedictine College Students Ready to Board the Buses for the March for Life

The national Students for Life of America organization investigated 784 Christian colleges for their pro-life stance and actions. Benedictine College and its Ravens Respect Life (RRL) student group were given an A+ and were named one of the top three pro-life colleges in America. The designation came with a $1500 “Standing with You” scholarship for a pregnant or parenting student on campus and $500 for RRL activities for the coming year.

“The next step after Roe is to build a culture of life and love,” said Benedictine College President Stephen D. Minnis. “I am so proud of our students who truly ‘Love Them Both’ and support both mothers and the unborn.”

According to Joe Hogan, vice president of RRL, the college and the student group were recognized for activities like these:

  • Sidewalk advocacy trips multiple times per month, which include prayer and counseling.
  • Annual participation in 40 Days for Life; Spring Break deployment with Susan B. Anthony List in Philadelphia; and participation in the National March for Life in Washington, D.C., with six buses of students.
  • Resources for pregnant and parenting students, such as diapers, formula, and blankets, are stored in RRL’s pregnant and parenting resource storage unit and given to mothers in need.
  • Fundraising events supporting Advice & Aid Pregnancy Center in Overland Park, KS.
  • RRL does diaper drives outside the local Walmart and provides pregnant and parenting students with brochures that have a detailed list of local pregnancy resources.
  • Students are working with local legislators to pass the Value Them Both Amendment, which protects basic restrictions on abortion in the State of Kansas.
