Gowasack Named Benedictine's Outstanding Young Alumnus

Andrew GowasackBenedictine College in Atchison, Kan., is pleased to announce that Andrew Gowasack ’13, co-founder and CEO of TrustStamp, will receive the Outstanding Young Alumni Award at this year’s Senior Champagne Brunch. The award recognizes alumni who are under 35 years old, have distinguished themselves in their community and profession, and who support the values promoted at Benedictine College. Each year the honoree returns to address the graduating seniors at the traditional brunch the day before Commencement. Gowasack has agreed to address both the Class of 2020 and the Class of 2021 at their individual Senior Brunches.

Gowasack graduated from Benedictine College in 2013 with degrees in both Finance and Economics. Although now a CEO, he is proud to say that his first job was as a Resident Assistant at Benedictine College. He began his professional career in financial services sales and marketing with Ashford Advisors, but joined his mentor, Gareth Genner, in founding TrustStamp in 2016. He has immersed himself in the lean-startup environment by completing incubator programs through Founder’s Space in San Francisco, QC FinTech in Charlotte, NAR Reach in Chicago, and Plug and Play in both Silicon Valley and Abu Dhabi. Each of these programs provided a different perspective and honed a different set of startup skills for him.

Gowasack and Genner had been friends for years and discussed a number of ideas for a technology start-up before landing on TrustStamp. The company uses proprietary, artificial intelligence-powered biometric technology to provide users with a unique digital identifier. The identifier, called an Evergreen Hash, or EgHash™, can be used to detect and prevent identity fraud and identity theft. Each Evergreen Hash is unique to an individual and cannot be reverse engineered, or hacked. It combines biometric solutions with advanced privacy-enhancing techniques to enable accurate authentication without the need to retain or expose sensitive information or even connect to the Internet.

In 2018, the Technology Association of Georgia named the young company, based in Atlanta, one of the 10 most innovative companies in the state. This past June, Accenture’s Blue Tulip Awards named TrustStamp the Top Finance Innovation of 2020. The Blue Tulip Awards recognizes innovations that address the most important global challenges of today.

Even as TrustStamp was raising capital and earning patents, Gowasack was preparing for his next biggest challenge, fatherhood. He and his wife welcomed their first child in June 2018.
