New Study Names Benedictine College Among Nation’s 100 Best

Wednesday, February 26, 2014

A major college search website, TheBestSchools.org, has just published its latest rankings in which they found the best public university and the best 4-year liberal arts college in each state.  Benedictine College made the list, being named with the University of Kansas for the state of Kansas.

The list adds to Benedictine’s accolades, which include being named “One of America’s Best Colleges” by U.S. News & World Report; one of the top 20 Catholic colleges in the nation by the Newman Guide to Choosing a Catholic College; and a leader in educational excellence by the Colleges of Distinction Guidebook.

In 2010, following an extensive research project, First Things magazine also listed Benedictine College among the 20 best colleges and universities in America.  Benedictine was joined on the list by such notables as Princeton, Columbia, Stanford, Notre Dame, Duke, and the U.S. Air Force Academy.

“As with U.S. News & World Report and the Newman Guide, these lists continue to confirm that we are achieving our mission and vision,” said President of Benedictine College Stephen D. Minnis.  “This lets everyone know what our students, faculty and staff can already see; that Benedictine College is becoming one of the great Catholic colleges in America.”

According to TheBestSchools.org website, criteria for putting a school on their list include the reputation of the school and its faculty, its dedication to a broad liberal arts education, its accreditation, and its overall academic caliber compared to other institutions of the same type within the same state.

“We believe this list identifies the very best that higher education has to offer across the length and breadth of this great land,” said James Barham, general editor at TheBestSchools.org.
