Ministry Graduate Assistant for Accounting

Graduate Assistants act as helpers to their departments, students or professors in a research or administrative capacity. Their primary responsibilities include assisting with various administrative tasks, organizing campus events and conducting various research task.

Students intending to get an MBA: you must receive a GA position before being enrolled in any MBA courses; once you have been enrolled in any MBA courses you are no longer eligible to receive a GA position.

* Individuals must be accepted into the Benedictine College graduate program in order to be selected for Graduate Assistant positions.  Furthermore, individuals must remain in good-standing in the graduate program in order to continue in the GA position.

Position Summary

The Graduate Assistant for Accounting in the Ministry department will commit to two years and work approximately 20 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters and is responsible for bookkeeping duties, including but not limited to:

  • Providing general accounting support to the Ministry Leadership Team members as requested
  • Managing mission trip finances (daily contact with Mission Trips master budget including tracking missionary fundraising, financial donations, wire transfer requests, etc.)
  • Managing pilgrimage finances (daily contact with Pilgrimage Trips master budget including tracking missionary fundraising, financial donations, wire transfer requests, etc.)
  • Processing income, reimbursements, and payments
  • Collaborating with the Director of College Ministry on departmental budget special projects
  • Coding bills
  • Making cash and check deposits to the Business Office and Advancement Offices and serve as a point of contact
  • Graduate assistants are expected to perform their duties in a professional and timely manner, including keeping a regular schedule of office hours.     

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in related field of study
  • * Must be accepted into a Benedictine College graduate program

Experience / Skills

  • Accounting internship experience preferred
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • The ideal candidate will be familiar with and embrace Benedictine College Ministry’s vision and mission

Compensation

  • Full tuition waiver (books and fees not included) with completion and approval of Tuition Benefit Form each semester
