Digital Video Specialist

Position Summary

The Digital Video Specialist is responsible for the conceptualization, planning, shooting and editing of professional quality videos across a variety of subjects. Working in a fast-paced environment, this position will focus on production of high-impact videos that promote awareness and a positive perception of Benedictine College. Therefore, a passion for telling the stories of community, faith and scholarship is essential, as well as the flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends that such work can sometimes require.

Essential Functions

  • Support external communication programs to drive positive public perception of the college
  • Edit post-production video. This includes but is not limited to:
  • Reviewing and editing video and photos
  • Performing audio redubbing
  • Color correction and color grading
  • Incorporating special effects with graphic design and sound/music
  • Select and integrate titles, backgrounds and animations
  • Export/upload video to appropriate media (YouTube, Facebook, file sharing)
  • Versatility in behind-the-camera filming of field video projects
  • Frequent “studio lighting” in the field
  • Understanding of camera angles and lighting techniques to address project needs
  • Use Adobe Premiere Pro to edit and create different corporate video projects such as executive interviews, honoree introductions, television commercials and marketing pieces.
  • Plan, design and prep video shoots. This may include working independently or with other team members on location selection, scripting, story-boarding and overall appearance of the shoots
  • Manage a team of student workers in the field as producer, director and videographer
  • Mentor and cross-train other team members, including student workers, interns and part-time employees
  • Maintain knowledge of required equipment: SONY mirrorless cameras, audio recording apparatus, and lighting.
  • Remain abreast of technology directions, initiatives and trends within scope of expertise to provide ideas, guidance and recommendations
  • Maintain Benedictine YouTube channel, including ensuring videos are optimized for search, responding to comments and organizing playlists
  • Maintain organization and filing system for final video products and original/raw footage
  • Maintain correct and consistent usage of the Benedictine brand and marketing standards
  • Complete projects on time and within budget according to the deadline/production schedule

Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Cinema, Communications, Journalism, English, or other related field required
  2. Proficiency in audio/video production
  3. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
  4. Strong project management skills and ability to meet multiple deadlines
  5. Experience shooting with professional cameras such as Sony mirrorless
  6. Experience in creating scripts
