Important Residence Hall Update - March 19 | Benedictine College

Important Residence Hall Update

Sent to Benedictine College students, student parents, faculty and staff on March 19, 2020.

Dear Ravens:

As you know, we have been doing all we can to keep campus going until the coronavirus pandemic abates. Unfortunately, just this morning Atchison County health authorities sent out a mandate requiring all public accommodations take actions to restrict gatherings to no more than 10 people. The directive closed all restaurants, bars and theaters in the county. This includes our dining facility, which can now only distribute prepackaged meals on a grab-n-go basis.

We have reluctantly concluded that with this new directive in place, we are closing our residence halls and asking our students to vacate campus. We recognize that there are some hardship cases and we will work with students who need individual accommodations. The Student Life Office will provide information to residential students regarding the check-out process and hardship cases within the next 24 hours. We are committed to providing distance-education to all of our students to allow them to finish out their courses for the semester.

The business of the college will continue, with faculty teaching remotely and staff working from home as much as possible. As we continue to monitor the situation, we are searching for ways to sustain our community in an online environment and we will be reaching out in the future. But for the moment, we must comply with this county directive. Please join us in prayer for relief from the impact of the virus on our country and the world.

Please continue to monitor updates on the coronavirus response information page.

Ravens will rise!
