The Raven women's cross country opened their 2011 season on Friday completing in the University of Central Missouri Mule Run.

The squad earned a fourth-place finish out of 11 competing teams.

The women were led by Naomi Reeh, who ran a great race in fifth place.

The next four were separated by 50 seconds: Maggie Buchmiller, 33rd; Martha Evans, 35th; Kati Friess, 40th; and, Bridget Carosello, 47th of  94 finishers. Christine Buechler in 59th and Theresa Graybill in 76th completed the varsity squad. Mary Henrich finished in 82nd.

“This was a really good start to the season. In comparing the team times with 2009 and 2010, the men were a little better, and the women were very similar, almost identical, which indicates we’re where we want to be in terms of training,” said Coach Lane. “I’m pleased with how everyone ran.  We were very competitive with the other conference schools in the race, which is what we need to do to have a successful season.”

Complete team results.

Next up for the teams is the Woody Greeno Invitational, co-hosted by Nebraska Wesleyan University and the University of Nebraska in Lincoln on Sept 17.
