Raven women's basketball coach Chad Folsom has announced the signing of St. Joseph Christian High School standout Alexa Taff. Taff signed a letter of intent in the fall to play basketball and run track at Benedictine College starting in the fall of 2012. She is a 5’4” combo guard who led her St. Joseph Christian team to a 22-6 record and an Elite Eight finish in the Missouri 1A High School State Championships this past season.
During her senior year, Alexa averaged 18 points per game, while knocking down 50 three-pointers, and getting over five steals per game. Alexa scored over 1,500 points in her career and is a three-time First Team All-District performer, four-time All-City performer, and an All-State performer. She is also a member of the national honor society and was recently named the St. Joseph Area Female Scholar Athlete.
“I am very excited to have Alexa joining our women’s basketball family here at Benedictine College," said Coach Folsom. "She is an extremely hard worker, very quick, and super fast. Not only is Alexa a very good basketball player and track athlete, she is also an exceptional young lady off the court and in the classroom.”
To go along with her basketball accolades, Alexa is a very accomplished track athlete. She is a three-time defending State Champion in the 100 meter and 200 meter dashes, and owns a state title in the 400 meter dash and two relay teams.
Alexa is trying this spring to make it four straight years as the state champion in the sprints, a rare feat in high school track and field. She will be running sprints next Spring for the Benedictine College track and field team.
