For the first time in a year, the Lady Ravens walked off the court after playing a game against William Jewell with their heads held high.

Thursday night, the Lady Ravens opened HAAC play with a 80-60 win over the Lady Cardinals in Ralph Nolan Gymnasium.

One of the biggest stats on the night was the Lady Ravens bench outscoring William Jewell's 35-11, in fact, the Lady Ravens' leading scorer came off the bench.

Freshman Abby Winder led the Lady Ravens with 14 points while sophomore Leah Stuhlsatz added 10 more points off the bench. Starter Michelle Walsh also added 10 points.

But perhaps even bigger than Winder's contribution was the fact that four other Lady Ravens scored at least 8 points on the night. The senior trio of Emily Smith, Angela Campbell and Jill Heiman all chipped in with 9 points while sophmore guard Nicole Reilly added 8 points.

The win moves the Lady Ravens to 5-1 on the year and starts the team out 1-0 in conference play.

The team travels to Springfield, Mo., for a 2 p.m. game Saturday against HAAC power Evangel.
