Men's Cross Country Opens With Second Place Finish

Benedictine places high at UCM Mule Run

The Raven men’s cross country opened their 2011 season on Friday completing in the University of Central Missouri Mule Run.

The squad earned a second-place finish our of 10 competing teams.

Leading the way for the Raven men was Luke Gross in 15th place in the 100-runner field.

Ian Lee was next for the Ravens in 24th, followed by Greg Danner, 33rd; Patrick Earhart 42nd and Andrew Massmann 44th for the scoring runners. The raven varsity was completed by Nick Laughman and Nathan Bohlig in 68th and 70th. Also competing was Eric Lampe in 94th.

“This was a really good start to the season. In comparing the team times with 2009 and 2010, the men were a little better, and the women were very similar, almost identical, which indicates we’re where we want to be in terms of training,” said Coach Lane. “I’m pleased with how everyone ran.  We were very competitive with the other conference schools in the race, which is what we need to do to have a successful season.”

Next up for the teams is the Woody Greeno Invitational, co-hosted by Nebraska Wesleyan University and the University of Nebraska in Lincoln on Sept 17.
