The 28th Annual Benedictine Golf Classic returned to the beautiful St. Joseph Country Club again this year and was another great success for Raven Athletics.

The annual event raised over $32,500 for Raven Athletics with 136 golfers taking part in the event.

"It turned out to be an outstanding day for golf," said Benedictine Athletic Director Charlie Gartenmayer. "We are very grateful to those who made the trip up to St. Joseph and made this year's tournament another great success for our department.

"Its through their generosity that we continue to help build one of the greatest Catholic colleges in America."

The funds raised through the tournament go to general operation of the Raven Athletic Department.

Raven Athletics would like to extend a thank you to this years corporate sponsors: Bank of Atchison, IHP Industrial, Inc., St. Benedict's Abbey, Dave's Diesel Service, Inc., Michael and Theresa Murphy, Bank Midwest, UMB Bank, Walmart, Farmer's State Bank - Wathena, Michael S. In addition to the corporate sponsors, the event would not have been possible without the help of the tournament committee. A special thank you on behalf of Raven Athletics is also extended to Benedictine's Director of Athletic Giving Rob Herringer for helping organize the day's activities.

"Without the support and help of our sponsor and our committee members, the tournament would not continue to be the success that it was again this year," Gartenmayer said.

Prizes were awarded on several holes throughout the course. Buck Alberts won the "closest to the pin" contest on No. 13. Ellie Folsom won the women's longest drive contest on No. 10 while Alex Boyd won the men's longest drive contest on No. 10. Brad Nurski won the "closet to the pin" contest on No. 7.
