LEAVENWORTH - The Raven baseball team stepped out of Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) play on Tuesday for a rare night game against the University of St. Mary. The game was played at Sportsfield Park in Leavenworth and not on the campus of USM, which is why the two teams were able to play the night game.

Benedictine scored five unanswered runs over the final three innings but couldn't overcome a slow start offensively and the nine runs that St. Mary scored in the first two innings, dropping the single, nine-inning game 22-6.

The Ravens used seven pitchers in the loss. Peter Del Castillo (Soph., Overland Park) Del Castillo threw the first two-thirds of a inning giving up three earned runs to suffer the loss. Pitchers Brett Slobodzian (Jr., Platte City, Mo.), Austin Harrison (Fr., Fulton, Mo.), John Scofield (Fr., Grandview, Mo.), Lukas Leeper (Sr., Rossville), Michael Rowland (Sr., Kansas City, Mo.) and Adam Burns (Fr., Overland Park) combined the finish out the game. Harrision recorded a staff-high five strikeouts over his two and two-thirds innings.

At the plate, the Ravens went 11 of 35 with two extra-base hits.

Center fielder Ryan Lengyel (Sr. ,Euless, Texas) and designated hitter Aaron Molinaro (Jr., Lincoln, Neb.) each recorded a home run. Lengyel's was a solo shot in the third inning for Benedictine's first run and Molinaro's was a two-run blast that capped off the Ravens scoring.

Molinaro was joined with a multi-hit game at the plate by second baseman Brendan Watamaniuk (Fr., Westlock, Alberta), right fielder Tim Yeargain (Jr., Florissant, Mo.) and third baseman Cameron Griego (Sr., Albuquerque, N.M.) all recorded two hits in the loss.

Molinaro and Watamaniuk combined for four RBIs to round out the offensive effort at the plate.

The Ravens return home over the weekend for their final homestand of the 2012 season. They host doubleheaders against Avila University at 1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday at the Ballpark at Benedictine.

Saturday's doubleheader will be live on the Benedictine Raven Sports Network. Pregame gets underway at 12:50 p.m.
