General Description:
This seminar explores the good news of Christ’s teaching on marriage. Christ taught that marriage is the permanent, faithful union of one man and one woman. God divinely instituted the very first marriage between our first parents at the dawn of the human race and Christ confirms the Sacrament of Marriage at his first miracle performed at the Wedding Feast of Cana. Goals are:
- Prepare man for who he will be for woman and woman for who she will be for man
- Embrace the good news about sex and marriage
- Train in moral method for spacing children, Natural Family Planning (NFP)
- Review compatibility, FOCUS Survey and Pre-Nuptial Investigation with Priest
- Communication, finance coaching and goal setting with married couple
- Certificate of Marriage Preparation for you to present to the church where you will marry
Scripture:
The first marriage takes place in Genesis 2:23-24. Adam said of the Woman, whom God had made from his rib and brought to him to be his help meet, "This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh." According to Jesus in Matthew 19:4-5, “a man shall leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they shall be one flesh.” Ephesians 5:25 says, “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her,” The words recorded in Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:5 and Ephesians 5:25 are "God's Law of Marriage" and what Pope John Paul II refers to as the one-flesh union in the Theology of the Body.
