CAREER COUNSELING
Career Planning
Individual counseling regarding one's career and choice of academic major is available. Students can better evaluate their personal values, interests and skills through career counseling and the application of standardized assessments, such as the Campbell Interest and Skills Survey, the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and the Holland Self-Directed Search. These assessments are administered for nominal fees, and career counseling is free for enrolled students. All services are confidential.
Job Search Guidance
Questions about resumé development and cover-letter writing, interview preparation, networking and job-search strategies are common, even for individuals who have already been working full-time in the job market. Students and alumni are encouraged to make an appointment and discuss their particular questions or concerns with Career Development staff and use the resources available in the Career Library. Workshops on resumé writing, interviewing and the job search are also offered throughout the school year.
Job Guarantee Program
Students who sign up for the Job Guarantee Program as freshmen and complete all the requirements successfully by the time they graduate from Benedictine College are guaranteed to find full-time employment within 6 months of graduation, or Benedictine College will reimburse students for their loan payments for up to 12 months.
CREDENTIAL FILES
Whether you call it a dossier, credential file, or portfolio make sure you have the best way to manage your credentials.
Interfolio is an online credentials management service that is available to BC students and alumni. Interfolio is the cheapest and easiest way for a Ph.D. to send academic credentials to a search committee, an undergraduate to send application materials to graduate and professional schools, or a teacher to apply for a teaching position.
Interfolio's Internet service allows you to build an internet portfolio, a complete file of all your credentials, where you can store any of your life's work:
- Confidential letters of recommendation
- Curriculum Vitae
- Writing samples
- Dissertation abstract
- Supervising teacher evaluation
- Student & peer evaluations
- Transcripts - from all of your degrees
- Anything else that you need to complete your search
